LEGO Minecraft 21279 The Enderman Tower review

LEGO Minecraft 21279 The Enderman Tower is a wholly average model, offering a unique experience but struggling to leave a lasting impression.

The new 21279 The Enderman Tower is easily one of the tallest LEGO Minecraft sets, but this achievement leaves parts of the model lacking, despite attempts to innovate. With an incredibly nostalgic minifigure at its side, though, this summer 2025 LEGO Minecraft set just about comes out on top without disappointing or excelling in any aspect.

lego minecraft 21279 the enderman tower review 1 1024x1024

21279 The Enderman Tower is split into two builds, with the main focus on a giant LEGO Enderman sculpture measuring 45cm tall. The all-black colour scheme of Enderman makes this a less striking build aside from its height, but the decision has been made to mix in natural features from the Nether for a splash of colour. This helps the set to feel lived-in. It's also likely a factor in why this model isn't in the End, since that dimension is considerably less colourful than the Nether.

The gaunt frame of Endermen is represented fine, aside from the legs and arms being too thick, but at least those arms can move. Unfortunately, there's no block for this build to hold, nor is there even a way to add one with additional elements. This feels like an oversight in what is otherwise a decently strong build. It's worth noting that the natural features can all be removed to depict an all-black Enderman tower, as much as that colour scheme intentionally makes it stand out even less.

The interior of the tower is built to use what little space is available to the best of its abilities, only including two rooms in the monolithic model. These consist of a practically empty chamber with a single crafting and enchanting table, as well as a portal room at the head. The latter is well-executed, with the purple of the portal blending nicely into the Enderman's colour scheme.

The former is not quite so appealing. Remove the crafting and enchanting table, and this is an empty space with all black walls and not much room to pose more than two minifigures inside (not that you'd want to). One solution to this would have been to include a row of bookshelves to bolster the enchanting table's power and focus this room only on the one utility block. The colour of these bookshelves would have also increased the interior's visual appeal.

As thick as the legs are, there's no room for an interior in them due to the modular nature of this set. They are designed to be rearranged alongside the rest of the many modules in 21279 The Enderman Tower into an alternate structure.

The fortress-like building makes good use of the Enderman's parts, but it feels more disjointed than the tower. It has a distinctly colourful appearance compared to the tower, but it seems unlikely that most fans will create this structure more than once before reverting to the Enderman tower.

21279 The Enderman's Tower's minifigure selection is another area where the set shines. Not only does the Realm Raider have some futuristic detailing with those stylised eyes behind protective glass, but Nick Bluetooth has shockingly reappeared (in the form of the Dimensional Defender). It's not the first LEGO-specific reference in LEGO Minecraft, but considering the legacy of Galidor, this is a much more monumental reference than NINJAGO's Kai in 21160 The Illager Raid.

The most dedicated of LEGO history buffs will likely already have their eyes on 21279 The Enderman Tower for the Dimensional Defender minifigure, and for Minecraft enthusiasts, don't overlook the pair of Endermites to annoy you whenever you teleport. They don't appear often in LEGO Minecraft and use an exclusive printed part, increasing the set's appeal.

At £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 for 867 pieces, 21279 The Enderman Tower doesn't suffer as badly from its price as 21278 The Pillager Outpost and Ravager, and its height does help with that cost. Unfortunately, the lacklustre interior drags down what is an otherwise good build, knocking it down to satisfactory. It struggles to excel, or disappoint overall, but at least it doesn't need to be your top priority in LEGO Minecraft this summer (aside from the Dimensional Defender).

LEGO Minecraft 21279 The Enderman Tower comparison

21279 The Enderman Tower is 45cm tall, putting it on par with the upcoming 77078 Mecha Team Leader and above the life-like 21349 Tuxedo Cat. It's far from finding a spot on the list of the tallest LEGO sets of all time, but it does top the list of the tallest LEGO Minecraft sets of all time.

It has officially taken the title from 21118 The Mine at 32cm tall, towering above any other LEGO Minecraft set as a massive Enderman should.
