LEGO Minecraft 21265 The Crafting Table is designed for expansion

As well as paying homage to the first Micro World models, LEGO Minecraft 21265 The Crafting Table is designed to be expanded in the future.

LEGO Minecraft 21265 The Crafting Table is the theme's first 18+ set, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the game but it appears that the LEGO Group isn't against the idea of more block builds in the future.

As suggested in the name, 21265 The Crafting Table recreates one of the most iconic blocks in the game with a miniature world contained within. Two sides of the block are left open to showcase the interior and the top can be removed too.

As well as the studs on the top (when the upper side is removed), four LEGO Technic axle connection points are included in the base, seemingly for two black base builds that can hold the microfigures and a pair of nameplates. There are four of these connection points in total.

Assuming that there are only two of the black bases to attach to two sides at a time, that still leaves two of the axle slots free for future expansions, as well as the studs on top should the roof be removed.

While nothing has been officially confirmed and 21265 The Crafting Table is likely intended to be a standalone set, the concept could be reworked in the future for other Minecraft landscapes – a furnace with the fiery Nether dimension and its oceans of lava inside for instance. Whether by intention or to make the black nameplate bases more versatile in 21265 The Crafting Table, the LEGO Minecraft design team have made the upcoming model ideal for expansion, should be a desire for more block Micro World sets in the future.

21265 The Crafting Table is available to pre-order now for £79.99 / $89.99 / €89.99 and it will launch on August 1. A new wave of LEGO Minecraft sets is now available too at minifigure scale.
