LEGO Botanicals 10342 Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet review

LEGO Botanicals 10342 Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet shines bright at the start of 2025 as another great example of why this theme is as smart as it is.

Continuing on the fine work of 2024’s 10328 Bouquet of Roses, LEGO Botanicals 10342 Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet is the latest mid-range set to capture the beauty of a bouquet of flowers in LEGO form, in a way that is both engaging to build and very much worthy of display.

Release: January 1, 2025 Price: £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 Pieces: 749 Minifigures: 0 LEGO: Order now

Pretty in pink

Where 10328 Bouquet of Roses presented 12 roses split across three different types of build, LEGO Botanicals 10342 Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet returns much more variety, offering up a number of different types of flowers, as well as some foliage, to create a vibrant and colourful presentation, sized to mimic very effectively a relatively large bunch of flowers.

The different types of flower in 10342 Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet immediately lends itself to a much more varied and at times intricate build process as you move between different types of flowers in colour, size and design. There are all sorts of different parts thrown into the mix as a result, and in some cases a number of similar shades, and it all makes for yet another unique building experience from the LEGO Botanicals theme.

It’s less repetitive than 10328 Bouquet of Roses ever risked being (but never really felt either), with a nice flow between offering up new and interesting ways to create some of the particular styles of flower and keeping a good pace and delivery of new things to build too. In short for those cynics – building flowers may sound boring compared to building a Batmobile or a spaceship, but it holds your attention just as well and moves along just as nicely too, offering an engrossing and enjoyable experience.

A new arrangement

Coming in such different colours and types, as well as at different heights of stem, the collection of flowers found in LEGO Botanicals 10342 Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet can bunch together in all manner of compositions sat in a vase (which you have to provide separately).

You’ll quickly find yourself pulled into some novice flower arranging to find whatever suits your eye the best, as you begin to see how placing particular flowers next to each other or on opposite sides can change the overall final effect quite a bit. Before you know it you are pulled into moving the pink rose over there, one of the ranunculus over here, and finding just the right spot for the waterlily dahlia and those cymbidium orchids.

The number of different ways that this set can sit on display and in most cases look so good (unless you really get the arrangement wrong) is testament to how effective and clear the design of each flower is. Each looks great from multiple angles thanks to an authentic and detailed build that captures structure from not just a front-on view.

Hand-picked

Ultimately, LEGO Botanicals 10342 Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet is interesting to put together and sits beautifully on display thanks once again to the far more intelligent design approach that the theme has really developed over the past 12 months or so. Instead of leaning too far into the novelty of unusual LEGO pieces popping up in radical recolours in the middle of a plant build, instead we have a plant build that showcases excellent parts knowledge to find the best LEGO pieces in the best possible colours to achieve the desired result.

The difference is best felt in a set like 10342 Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet which could have come out looking quite cartoonish if the blend of colours was even slightly off, and if the parts used were mis-sized or too eye-catching in their own right rather than contributing to the wider build.

As it is, 10342 Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet is as realistic and as eye-catching as it should be as a complete bouquet of some very nice-looking flowers – your eyes not only accept what’s in front of them but are constantly drawn in by all the colour and shape, much like with real flowers. There are still interesting parts and details to spot, but they don’t camouflage the bigger build here – they merely play a role.

There’s value in this set too, with the price equal to what a similar size bouquet of real flowers from an independent florist tends to cost, with the upside that these will last a little longer on display…
