LEGO Icons Chevrolet 10321 Corvette officially revealed

The latest LEGO Icons roadster races on to shelves in August, capturing an American motoring icon in Chevrolet's 10321 Corvette.

Built in bright red with distinctive white and grey details, 10321 Corvette takes a page from 10295 Porsche 911’s book by including pieces for both hood-up and hood-down configurations. It’s the latest in a long line of large LEGO Creator Expert and Icons vehicles, following in the tyre tracks of 10242 MINI Cooper MK VII, 10265 Ford Mustang, 10317 Land Rover Classic Defender 90 and more.

It will also launch exactly a year to the day since the only other Chevy in the LEGO Icons garage, 10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, which originally debuted on August 1, 2022. The C1 was Chevrolet’s first-generation Corvette, produced from 1953 to 1962, and today is remembered fondly for its looks and charm – if not its performance, which disappointed sports car enthusiasts in the early ‘50s.

In fact, slow sales of its first-generation Corvette almost prompted Chevrolet to give up on the idea of a sports car altogether – until Belgian-born engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov gave the Corvette a complete makeover in 1956, both inside and out. It’s that model (with its side coves, usually painted a different colour to the body) from which 10321 Corvette looks to have taken inspiration.

According to Classic Motoring, the best-selling colourway for the C1 in 1957 was actually Onyx Black with Inca Silver coves – but red and white feels like a reasonable colour choice given the rest of the LEGO Icons vehicles currently on shelves (a black Camaro, white 911, blue Vespa 928 and so on). It’s also the first red vehicle in this super-sized scale since 2016’s 10258 London Bus.

10321 Corvette includes 1,210 pieces and will retail for £129.99 / $149.99 / €149.99 when it zooms out of Billund on August 1, 2023.
