Prepare to return to the Elven kingdom of Imladris once more, with the upcoming release of LEGO Icons 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell.
Fans of Middle Earth will no doubt be rejoicing at the LEGO Group’s design to revisit The Lord of the Rings theme, with a massive model that’s bursting with incredible content. 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell is due to arrive next month, with the 6,167-piece set boasting an eye-watering price to match, although that might not be off-putting for most dedicated Tolkien followers.
Featuring various elements of the Elven kingdom of Imladris (that’s Sindarin for ‘Rivendell’, don’t you know), the LEGO Icons set includes the Council Ring, Frodo’s bedroom, Elrond’s study, an Elven tower, a gazebo, bridge and river, spread across three separate buildable sections. One location contained within 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell in particular may be familiar to fans of a certain age, as the LEGO Group has visited it once before.
In 2013, 79006 The Council of Elrond was released, with the 243-piece set offering a smaller and much less-detailed version of the locale. The model also featured minifigures of Elrond, Arwen, Frodo Baggins and Gimli, all of which are included with 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell, although the 2023 build does update the look of the characters.
Likewise, the much larger LEGO Icons set allows for more pieces and therefore more detail to be added to the location. So whilst 79006 The Council of Elrond only had room for three seats in total and a small table, 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell lets the full Fellowship sit down, even minifigures with short legs and skirt elements.
10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell will be available for VIP members from March 5, 2023, priced at £429.99 / $499.99 / €499.99, and include a free copy of 40630 Frodo & Gollum during early VIP access. It will then receive a wide launch on March 8 for everyone else, without the free BrickHeadz set.
