A fresh update shared on social media appears to have dashed even the most optimistic hopes for LEGO 2K Goooal! once and for all.
Hopes were briefly raised that LEGO 2K Goooal!, a football-focused follow-up to LEGO 2K Drive, is indeed still on the way but those hopes appear to have fallen flat. Posting an update on X, the LEGO Videogame Museum has received another email from retailer HMV regarding their pre-order of the mysterious game.
"Please be advised that due to a technical error, the listing of this rumoured release was incorrectly added to the website for a short period of time," the email reads. "As we have received no further information as to whether this rumoured release will become available or not, however, we have unfortunately had to cancel your pre-order and offer our apologies for any disappointment that this may cause.
"Should an update regarding this title become available, we'll update the website to reflect this as soon as possible so please do check back."
That final line appears to cover HMV for any future automatic messages, stating that any changes to the status of LEGO 2K Goooal! will be reflected on the website. Although the LEGO Videogame Museum notes in their post that they have another pre-order still in action, this update does seem to kill any hopes for the football game dead – at least for now. If concrete news does surface once again, we'll of course share the news but it might be time to hang up your virtual LEGO football boots at this time.
