The rumoured LEGO Moments 10391 Space could remake a classic creation, but there are almost too many nostalgic spaceships to choose from.
Ever since 70816 Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!, the ongoing remake and revisits to the LEGO Group's Classic Space selection of sets has grown to cover multiple spaceships and, more recently, Blacktron.
Now, with rumours of LEGO Moments 10391 Space from price comparison site brickmerge.de and brick_clicker's report of a 996-piece black spaceship with two minifigures, it seems that the nostalgia train isn't stopping quite yet. Based on builds including 10497 Galaxy Explorer and 40580 Blacktron Cruiser, a remake of a familiar model could be on the cards. However, nothing has been confirmed.
Looking at models that are considerably black in colour, include a similar amount of minifigures to the reported number and have a piece count that could realistically be adapted to 996 with modern-day bricks, here are five sets that the rumoured LEGO Moments 10391 Space could remake.
5 – 6954 Renegade
Year: 1987 Minifigures: 2 Pieces: 313
Sticking to Blacktron as the most recent LEGO Classic Space theme to be revisited, 6954 Renegade is the faction's biggest spaceship with a lopsided design that is especially black and even includes two minifigures. There's no confirmation that the rumoured 10391 Space would be limited to Blacktron but should it stick to the theme, this large spaceship might be the best option.
4 – 6781 SP-Striker
Year: 1989 Minifigures: 2 Pieces: 230
Also considerably black, though on the smaller side is Space Police's 6781 SP-Striker. With some drastic changes and a far expanded piece count, this classic creation could be an ideal pick for another nostalgic LEGO space set, or another Space Police build could be picked instead.
3 – 6986 Mission Commander
Year: 1989 Minifigures: 3 Pieces: 378
6986 Mission Commander has a third of the pieces of the rumoured 10391 space but based on 6894 Invader's transformation to 40580 Blacktron Cruiser and its piece count nearly tripling, this might be the ideal model for a remake, though we would be losing a minifigure.
2 – 6941 Battrax
Year: 1987 Minifigures: 1 Pieces: 284
Another pick for Blacktron could be the smaller 6941 Battrax at 284 pieces originally. There's a lot of room to expand on the size with the remaining rumoured piece count though. Admittedly this isn't a spaceship, but part of the changes could include some folding wheels for a rover-spaceship transformation.
1 – 6984 Galactic Mediator
Year: 1992 Minifigures: 3 Pieces: 406
While not nearly as black as 6954 Renegade, 6984 Galactic Mediator isn't small at over 400 pieces and that doesn't leave quite as much room as other sets to reach the rumoured 966 piece count as other models. It could mean the loss of another minifigure but with Blacktron already returning in 40580 Blacktron Cruiser, it could be time for more Space Police.
