With LEGO Pokémon due to hit store shelves in 2026, here are five potential sets that every dedicated trainer will want in their collection.
LEGO Pokémon was officially revealed this week, with the catch ’em all critters scheduled to arrive in some shape or form next year. As it stands, there are no details as to what fans can expect from the theme in 2026, other than it’ll be the start of a multi-year plan that will see the LEGO Group and the Pokémon company joining forces for some time to come.
We’ve already speculated on a few potential ideas for LEGO Pokémon sets we’d like to see, but that was just the tip of brick-built iceberg when it comes to possibilities. With that in mind, here are five must-have models we want within the first year of the theme’s launch.
1 – Buildable trainers

Taking a page out of MEGA’s book, one suggestion for LEGO Pokémon sets could be buildable trainers, similar to the model above. There are certainly plenty of fan-favourite characters to choose from too, including familiar friendly faces such as Ash, Misty and Brock plus villainous Team Rocket grunts, Jessie, James and the sinister Giovanni.
Due to their potential size, we’d ideally be looking at 18+ collector sets to really show off a high level of detail, with the option to throw in a playset-style display base, at least one brick-built Pokémon buddy and multiple themed accessories.
2 – Shiny variants

As most players will know, shiny variants of every Pokémon exist within the various video games, although many are extremely rare. It’s worth noting that shiny Pokémon tend to have a very different look to their standard appearance, something that could make specific LEGO Pokémon really stand out.
One other thing to consider is the inherent collectible nature of Pokémon, with any potential blind-bag LEGO CMF series surely begging to include shiny chase versions of characters to really appeal to hardcore fans.
3 – Poké Ball

If there’s one item synonymous with Pokémon, it must be the iconic red and white Poké Ball. One approach to a LEGO Pokémon version of the accessory used to catch the wild creatures could be inspired by 21265 The Crafting Table.
Released in 2024, the LEGO Minecraft build is a 1,195-piece cube that opens up to reveal various biomes and characters inside. Now imagine a giant Poké Ball (similar to the MEGA model above) that can be opened to show off all eight island regions, tiny trainer figures and multiple Pokémon within and we’re already reaching for our Poké wallets.
4 – Pokédex

In the world of Pokémon, a Pokédex is a special piece of tech used to identify and provide encyclopaedic information on every known Pokémon species. The smartphone-like devices include a display screen to show essential data and various functional buttons.
Not only would a 1:1 scale LEGO Pokédex be a cool build for any fans to have in their collections, but the model could also potentially pull double duty as a handy display stand for showing off a couple of included Pokémon figures.
5 – Evolutions

With over 1,100 different Pokémon currently in the game, the sky's the limit for possible LEGO Pokémon versions of the collectible creatures. One option then could be to release sets that feature the ability to assemble each evolution of a Pokémon, similar to LEGO Creator 3-in-1 models or MEGA’s Construx sets.
Fans could then choose which version of a Pokémon they wished to build, then take it apart and construct a different evolution. Go one step further and include enough elements to make and display all three variants at the same time and we could be looking at a whole LEGO Pokémon subtheme somewhere down the line.
Of course, all of the above remains wild fan speculation on our part for now, but we’ll know for sure what to expect from the LEGO Pokémon theme when the first sets arrive sometime in 2026.
