Every new piece in the LEGO One Piece sets

The five new LEGO One Piece sets include some interesting elements debuting next month, from hair and hats to a new kind of LEGO slope.

LEGO One Piece has been revealed, based on the Netflix series of the name (which adapts the titular anime and manga). You can take a closer look at the new models by clicking here, including two BrickHeadz. They feature all kinds of new elements for the part portfolio, mostly concerning minifigures, but not entirely.

Here's your guide to every new part in the LEGO One Piece sets, which all launch on August 1. You can get to know the new minifigures in our other guide.

Minifigure headwear

Many character-specific minifigure pieces are debuting across the five LEGO One Piece sets in August. These include the iconic straw hat (also with red hair in 75636 Windmill Village Hut), Luffy's black hair, a new bandana for Zoro with more angular shaping than usual, Nami's orange hair, and Sanji's hair covering one of his eyes. There's also Usopp's hair and bandana combination, a similar element for Arlong, Buggy's orange pirate hat and Zeff's braided moustache.

Some pieces seem better suited for use beyond these specific characters than others, and Zeff's especially would be great for LEGO Vikings in other colours. The many new hair pieces seem likely to be used widely for all kinds of minifigures, joining the long list of LEGO minifigure hair currently in use.

Minifigure weaponry

The most interesting new element in all of the LEGO Piece sets is undoubtedly Zoro's third sword, which is held in his mouth when fighting with the Three Sword Style. To replicate this in the LEGO One Piece sets, a new sword piece has been designed, attaching to the neck of a minifigure via a bracket.

Notably, the bracket does not extend to the back of a minifigure's neck, meaning it should be able to be detached from a minifigure without removing their head – an action not recommended while any kind of combat.

Beyond Zoro's neck-compatible sword piece, Mihawk's giant weapon has also been treated to a dedicated element, complete with the huge hilt and signature curve. It's not likely to be useful for any other characters, but it is perfect for Mihawk in 75640 The Baratie Floating Restaurant.

A rounded slope

The figurehead of 75639 The Going Merry Pirate Ship makes use of a new two-by-two rounded slope, which curves down and inwards for a uniquely defined shape that should be useful for everything from buildable figures to cars.

To our knowledge, this is the first recorded appearance of this element, but it's almost certainly not going to be the last. It wouldn't be surprising to see it in another set before 75639 The Going Merry Pirate Ship launches alongside the rest of LEGO One Piece on August 1.
