As 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser joins the LEGO Star Wars line-up, we’ve ranked every single prequel-era Ultimate Collector Series set so far.
Since 2000, the LEGO Star Wars team has pumped out a total of 37 different UCS sets. When 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser rockets on to shelves on October 1 (for LEGO Insiders), it will be number 38. But precious few of those have taken inspiration from anything outside the original trilogy of Star Wars films. Or to be more precise: six.
Yep, only six LEGO Star Wars UCS sets have ventured beyond A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and of those, just five have tackled the era between The Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith. (The other, 75331 The Razor Crest, was the first to leave behind the films altogether.) The question now is: how do they stack up next to 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser?

5 – 10026 Special Edition Naboo Starfighter
Aftermarket price: £1,663 new, £457 used Pieces: 187 Release date: October 1, 2002

When is a UCS set not a UCS set? When it’s a regular LEGO Star Wars set with a few chromed pieces slapped on to it. 2002’s 187-piece 10026 Special Edition Naboo Starfighter is a novelty for the weird approach it took to the notion of an ‘Ultimate Collector Series’ set when the subtheme was still finding its feet, and those chromed pieces are undoubtedly special enough to warrant its name. But if it’s an involved and lengthy build you’re after, steer clear.
4 – 10018 Darth Maul
Aftermarket price: £5,361 new, £645 used Pieces: 1,868 Release date: October 29, 2001

Long before 76215 Black Panther caused millions of LEGO Marvel fans to cry out in terror, 10018 Darth Maul brought us a large-scale bust of another immediately iconic silver screen character. Famed for its almost frustratingly complex build, the end result of this Sith bust is nonetheless a real looker: the studded design is typical of its time period, and feels like the sort of thing you’d see at LEGOLAND, but it captures Maul’s unique design surprisingly well.
3 – 75309 Republic Gunship
Price: £344.99 / $399.99 / €399.99 Pieces: 3,292 Release date: August 1, 2021

The LEGO Star Wars set that reignited focus on the prequels in the UCS line-up after an 11-year drought, 75309 Republic Gunship is absolutely worthy of its Ultimate label. Drawing on the design of the gunship as seen in Attack of the Clones, the 3,292-piece set is a hefty beast that will command almost too much of your display space (its wingspan is a colossal 74cm). A couple of grievances stop it from climbing higher on this list – the stickers, a few frustrating moments in the build – but it’s still a very good UCS set. And it’s retiring this year…
2 – 10215 Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter
Aftermarket price: £364 new, £263 used Pieces: 676 Release date: November 1, 2010

The first LEGO Star Wars prequel-era UCS model that still holds up well today, 10215 Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter received a rough reception in 2010 for its RRP (£94.99 / $99.99 for just 676 pieces). That may have contributed to the decade of solely original trilogy UCS sets that followed, but either way, this Delta 7 Aethersprite-Class Light Interceptor (to give it its nerdier nickname) is definitely worth checking out if you can find it at a reasonable price. That’s a big if…
1 – 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser
Price: £559.99 / $649.99 / €649.99 Pieces: 5,374 Release date: October 1 (Insiders), October 4 (wide), 2023

No prizes for guessing this one would be top of the list. The first Clone Wars UCS set ever, 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser builds on the template of previous Ultimate Collector Series capital ships – 10030 Imperial Star Destroyer, 10221 Super Star Destroyer, 75252 Imperial Star Destroyer – to deliver the sturdiest and most refined model at this scale to date. It’s a breeze to put together, looks great on display and even includes two exclusive minifigures. You can grab yours from October 1.
And that’s your lot. (Hey: it’s longer than an equivalent list for The Mandalorian UCS sets.) But while prequel-era UCS collectors just starting out now won’t need to give up too much shelf space, you will need deep pockets for some of those earlier sets. Best start by grabbing 75309 Republic Gunship before it retires this year and inevitably shoots up in price.
