Another LEGO Up-Scaled Minifigure is on its way next month but one intrepid builder has taken the collection several steps further.
Following 40649 Up-Scaled LEGO Minifigure's launch in June 2023, next month will welcome its race-ready sibling, 40819 Up-Scaled Racing Driver Minifigure is coming on March 1. That makes two modern Up-Scaled Minifigures, translating the features of popular minifigures into brick-built figures that stand around 25cm tall, as well as 40504 A Minifigure Tribute, which is exclusive to Billund's LEGO House.
There may only be two official ones but lyuanqing on reddit didn't let a little thing like design lead times stop them. They've added (deep breath) Upscaled Blacktron, Red Spaceman, Forestman, Majisto, and a Lion Knight to the line-up using a combination of their own custom building skills and Rebrickable mods.
The LEGO Group seems to be ready to get more specific with its minifigures, as with 40819 Up-Scaled Racing Driver Minifigure, but zooming in on popular characters, like Majisto and the various colours of space men, would surely be a slam dunk. You could even expand into licensed themes; with the reaction to Jedi Bob, could we one day see a larger brick-built version of the LEGO Jedi?
There's certainly a lot more mileage in the concept than the surface that the LEGO designers have scratched so far – and the display on reddit has got us hoping that 40819 Up-Scaled Racing Driver Minifigure isn't the end of the line.
