How to use Brick Search to find every LEGO Dungeons & Dragons minifigure

LEGO Minifigures 71047 Dungeons & Dragons is out soon, so here's how to use the Brick Search app to find all 12 characters using the minifigure scanner.

Gone are the days when you could feel for specific pieces inside blind-bagged LEGO minifigures as the LEGO Group continues to move towards sustainable packaging. As a result, searching for particular minifigures now requires a bit of know-how, but thankfully, Brick Search isn't hard to use.

Much like 71046 Series 26 Space, the next series of LEGO Minifigures (based on Dungeons & Dragons) features scannable data matrix codes on the bottom of each box, just to the right of the barcode. You can scan these codes using Brick Search's minifigure scanning function to determine exactly which minifigure is inside each blind box.

To get started, you'll first need to download the free Brick Search app on Android or iOS by clicking the appropriate link or scanning the QR code below, depending on what is easiest on your current device.

Once the download is complete, launch the Brick Search app and you'll see the homepage with several themes, including LEGO Minifigures. You can scour the past, present and future of LEGO sets later though – for now, all you need to do is click the blue camera button at the bottom of the page.

This will open the Brick Search app's scanner, which can scan barcodes and minifigure data matrix codes. In this case, we want to focus on the data matrix code, so use your thumb to cover up the barcode and point the scanner at the bottom right of a Collectible Minifigures box.

Once you've got the code in the frame, it should take just a few seconds until you see the listing for one of 71047 Dungeons & Dragons' 12 minifigures pop up on the screen. That's who is inside the box and you can rest assured that the minifigure is secured (at least once you pay for it).

Repeat this process with every other copy of 71047 Dungeons & Dragons you want to scan until you've found every character you're looking for. You don't need to close the scanner and re-open it, either: simply put the scanned box to the side and move on. Should you wish to double-check your acquired minifigures without opening them, just scan them once more and you'll see who is inside.

It's an intuitive process once you've done one box and you can also use the scanner to scan set barcodes to add them to your collection or wishlist while in a store.
