A new flagship LEGO Store has opened its doors in Australia, with the Sydney location now officially the largest in the world.
It’s time for the LEGO Store Leicester Square to pass on its crown, as the world’s largest flagship location can now be found in Australia. Spanning over 900 square metres, the Sydney Arcade store overlooks the Pitt Street Mall and opened its doors today to eager queuing fans.
The new flagship LEGO Store includes the now-standard Pick and Build wall, Build a Minifigure stations and Australia’s first-ever LEGO Minifigure Factory. Visitors to the location will also get to check out huge brick-built sculptures of Australian cultural icons, such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge constructed from 549,378 elements and a 303,719 -piece recreation of the Sydney Opera House.
Jay’s Brick Blog was also in attendance at the opening of the massive LEGO Store, revealing fans lining up around the block to visit the new flagship location. The grand opening was accompanied by a countdown and ribbon-cutting ceremony, before visitors were granted access inside.
“Supporting the LEGO Group’s mission to inspire and develop builders of tomorrow, the immersive new store will feature creative play experiences, with playful nods to Australian culture that are sure to create lasting memories for every Aussie or visitor from around the world,” said Troy Taylor, Vice President and General Manager of LEGO Australia and New Zealand.
