Released earlier this year, 75573 Floating Mountains: Site 26 & RDA Samson offers three substantial builds for play or display. First up is Site 26 itself – a ‘mobile link station’ that lets human beings link to Avatar bodies. Technical equipment can be found inside the station for this purpose – including a large tank that Jake Sully can be placed in.
The RDA Samson – a futuristic helicopter – may prove a little more interesting. This large aircraft includes plenty of space to place minifigures, and includes a pair of stud shooters for combat. This build can be mounted upon a chunk of Pandora’s terrain, which can – in turn – be attached to similar builds in other LEGO Avatar sets.
Human and Avatar versions of Jake Sully are included in this set, with the former featuring a new, more practical wheelchair element. Other characters from the movie include Norm Spellman (in his Avatar form) Dr Grace Augustine and Trudy Chacon. There’s even a direhorse (a six-legged creature native to Pandora) for the minifigures to ride, making this set an excellent choice for any Avatar fan.
