Andor writer joins team for James Mangold's Star Wars movie

Part of Andor's writing team has signed up to co-write James Mangold's upcoming Star Wars movie focusing on the dawn of the Jedi Order.

As stated by The Hollywood Reporter, Beau Willimon from the Andor crew has been recruited to write the script for James Mangold's Star Wars movie alongside the director. It's also reported that the working title for the film is Dawn of the Jedi, which would make sense since the movie explores how the Jedi Order started.

Willimon wrote three of the 12 episodes in the first season of Andor, specifically the episodes focusing on the prison. The next Star Wars movie coming to the big screen is confirmed to be The Mandalorian & Grogu on May 22, 2026. It may be some time until we see Dawn of the Jedi as Mangold is currently working on a Bob Dylan biopic.

Also recently re-joining the possible Star Wars theatrical schedule is Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron movie though that may be a few years away too. Coming soon is a new trailer for the Star Wars Outlaws game next week with the game currently scheduled to release this year.
